OUR STORY
It was the holiday season. We were rushing around trying to finish all the last minute shopping and errands. My 2 year old son had had ENOUGH. The early signs of a meltdown were starting to show. We had one more stop, and Mommy ran into this store leaving us in the car. I attempted all my usual dad jokes and tricks to no avail. The angry tears began to flow.
We had been doing a lot of animal noise games so I tried that and still no luck. He was inconsolable beyond the point of no return. Then it hit me and I blurted it out, “HONK HONK...FRRRRPPP (fart noise) WHO FARTED?” He looked at me puzzled with that confused puppy sideways head tilt and then said “THE GOOSE!” I continued, “QUACK QUACK FRRPPP… WHO FARTED?” THE DUCK!” he yelled. By the time Mommy returned we were both laughing hysterically. The rest is history.
We have book shelves filled with wonderful children’s books with powerful messages and beautiful artwork and we adore them, but sometimes, especially in today’s world, you just need to laugh.
